From Monday 23rd October 2017, London will be introducing a Toxicity charge, also known as a T-Charge, in a bid to help reduce air pollution by discouraging drivers of older, high polluting vehicles from entering the city.
The Toxicity Charge will apply to all vehicles that do not meet the Euro 4 emission standards that enter the current London Congestion Charge Zone – generally most cars registered before 2006.

Total Motion have moved its support for the armed forces community up a gear by officially signing the Armed Forces Covenant.
By signing this agreement, Total Motion’s managing director Simon Hill has pledged that armed forces personnel, veterans, reservists and their families will be treated fairly by the company.
Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Parker, of 7th Infantry Brigade, signed the Covenant on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, alongside Simon at the signing ceremony at Total Motion’s Leicester-based head office.
Simon Hill said: “As our business continues to grow we’re delighted to be able to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and strengthen our support for current and former Service personnel and their families.
“The levels of training provided by the military are incredibly high and it’s been amazing to see just how far those skills transfer into the business environment.”

Petrol and diesel cars set to provide owners with valuable nest egg
As we know, plans to stop the sale of new diesel and petrol vehicles in 2040 have been introduced, but this isn’t all bad as many current diesel and petrol cars will start to appreciate in value come 2040.

Our new app features a vehicle defect reporting system that can be formatted for use on cars, vans or HGVs, meaning drivers will no longer have to fill in forms or wait on the phone if they encounter a problem before starting their journey or while out on the road.
Drivers will also be able to report an accident and submit their mileage via the app.
Further benefits are available by using the app in combination with our telematics. Fleets will be able to reduce downtime by up to 50 per cent as repairs can be arranged en route via one of our network of service engineers or via a mobile repairer.
Why it is vital employers carry out regular driving licence checks
Do you regularly check driving licences to ensure that your employees are legally entitled to drive for your business?
If you don’t, then you’re risking invalidating your insurance and breaking the law as not all motorists notify their employers if they incur penalty points on their licence, a recent study has revealed.
Only 13 per cent of drivers surveyed by RAC Insurance said they would tell their employer if they received points, while a quarter, who already have points, said they hadn’t let any organisation know when they got them.

Fleet operators urged to listen to driver’s mental health concerns
Fleet operators have been warned to be aware of potential mental health problems among their drivers in the wake of an influential study. The report, commissioned by Mercedes-Benz, found that almost one in five van drivers described their mental health as poor, or very poor, with three quarters saying work was a contributing factor.
Increased workload and congestion on the roads were named among the triggers. Only a third of those drivers worried about their mental health had spoken to their manager about it.
We slam aggressive marketing which leaves young drivers in debt
Reports of young motorists being pressured into leasing brand new cars when they cannot afford the monthly payments, have been hitting the headlines in recent weeks.
A recent undercover investigation by the Daily Mail revealed that drivers on low wages, some with poor credit histories and even some without a job, are being offered top brand cars worth up to £20,000 – for no deposit. The Mail’s exposé claimed that in their hurry to secure business, reckless sales staff at dealerships across the UK are failing to carry out full affordability checks and trying to get drivers to over-commit on Personal Contract Purchase (“PCP”) deals.
