Invests in Online Fleet Management System for Clients
Vehicle management company
Total Motion has invested £30k in a bespoke computer system which will
provide its clients with a free, online fleet management tool.
The Total Motion system will be available to all its clients over the
internet, giving them access to full, up-to-date information on all their
vehicles and drivers, including service history, mileage data, accident
records, licence checks, P11D details and driving offences.
It will even provide a solution for monitoring cash for car or private
vehicles, helping fleet managers to meet their duty of care
responsibilities.
“Clients may no longer need to invest in their own databases or systems
unless they require very specialised functions,” says Simon Hill, managing
director of Total Motion. “All the information they need will be freely
available to them and we can provide them with reports on any aspect of
their fleet as often as they want, in any format they require.”
The system will also be used by Total Motion to streamline its own
in-house procedures and to improve communications with clients’ drivers.
The system can send out automatic emails and sms messages to remind
drivers when services are due or to inform them of manufacturer recalls or
news.
“It will help us and our clients to manage their fleets more efficiently
and effectively,” says Mr Hill. “In particular, it will make it much
easier to identify any problem areas or driver training needs and to act
upon them.”
Total Motion has been developing the system since August last year and has
just gone live with the first phase.
“There was no standard package which included all the functions we wanted
now and gave us the scope for ongoing development,” says Simon
Hill. “We are already working on phase 2, which will include a fuel
management function. Ultimately we plan to link directly to on-vehicle
computers to transmit urgent news or obtain information on mileage or
driving standards.”
