New Fleet Health & Safety
Package Ensures Duty of Care Compliance
An innovative Fleet Health &
Safety package has been launched by Total Motion to ensure organisations
comply with their duty of care obligations.
Total Motion has developed a comprehensive package, encompassing risk
assessment, fleet operating policy, licence checking, vehicle monitoring
and driver assessment, for a typical cost of £3,700 for a 50-vehicle
fleet.
Designed for organisations without specialist or dedicated fleet managers,
the service provides all the elements required to guarantee compliance
with driving-related health & safety legislation.
Managing director Simon Hill says: “It’s not enough just to have a policy.
To comply with the law, organisations must actually monitor their drivers
and check their vehicles to ensure the policy is being followed. For most
organisations with 30-100 cars, which don’t employ a specialist fleet
manager, it’s just too big a task.
“Based on our experience of managing fleets for our clients, we’ve brought
all the necessary services together to provide a unique, one-stop solution
which can be tailored to individual requirements.
“And once the policy is in place, it can cost clients as little as £250
per year for us to keep it up-to-date and ensure it complies with any
changes in legislation.”
Under the service, Total Motion will undertake a full risk assessment of
the fleet and provide a comprehensive fleet operating policy. Electronic
licence checks will be conducted on all company and nominated drivers and
field engineers will conduct assessments on all vehicles driven on company
business. Drivers will also be assessed and remedial training provided
where necessary.
Clients will be notified immediately of any issues and full reports
provided to demonstrate compliance.
Clients will also have access to Total Motion’s new online fleet
management system, which provides a practical solution to managing both
company-owned and cash for car or private vehicles. The system offers
comprehensive information and reports on vehicles and drivers, and enables
fleet managers to monitor whether private vehicles are being properly
taxed and maintained.
